An attempt is made to review the quality improvement efforts in the software industry. Six sigma implementation efforts in the industry is analyzed and studied. In this paper a detailed analysis is carried about the impact of development environment. Process selection and process maturity also plays important role in the software development environment. In this paper software quality models are analyzed and concept of six sigma in the software development industry.
